• In the area of air traffic management, Isdefe worked to incorporate various features into the Automated Air Traffic Control System, most notably: AMAN (Arrival MANager), which assists the controller in sequencing and separating traffic on approach to the airport, and FANS 1/A (Future Air Navigation System) and pseudotracks, which offer important benefits to operations in oceanic sectors, where both the quality of voice communications and flight position information are scarce. Isdefe also migrated the central mesh of the Air Navigation Voice and Data Network (REDAN) to a new communications infrastructure with higher capacity, availability and security. Finally, Isdefe worked to implement the General Contingency Plan for Air Navigation Services.
  • Services to configure the validation platform for different validations of the SESAR programme, to maintain and upgrade features of the internal management tool for SESAR projects, and to support the validations of the “Advanced integrated CWP (A-CWP)” project for ENAIRE’s European Convergence Division.
As concerns the structure, organisation and use of airspace, Isdefe continues to work on the periodic revision of the flight procedures in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), as well as on other operational safety and viability studies to implement new flight procedures in particularly complex operational environments.

Collaboration in setting the sector’s policy through strategies for airports, air navigation and air transport, conducting strategic studies of market trends, setting public prices, accessing new operators and other public service obligations. Support with the regulatory development of the Single European Sky (SES) and its implementation in national regulations. Last, but not least, Isdefe continues to provide technical support to the Civil Office of the Defence-Development Inter-Ministry Commission (CIDEFO) and the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP) Office to track the implementation of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations in Spain.

Work on inspection tasks to enforce compliance with the operational safety regulation among air navigation service providers, airport managers, air transport operators and aviation personnel. Isdefe also engages in consulting activities intended to yield constant improvement in aviation safety in areas such as Airspace Management (ASM), implementation of Performance-Based Navigation (PBN), flight procedures, operational safety and aviation accident and incident analysis.

Isdefe provides support to the CIAIAC by analysing serious air traffic incidents and evaluating and processing safety recommendations. Isdefe also carries out specialised studies to categorise accidents, the internal procedures of investigation groups and to write corporate reports.

In the area of marine traffic management, Isdefe does work involving the contracting of maritime rescue services and analyses the ways in which this service is provided in Spain.
